Beautiful View on the hills - Cameron Highlands

Cameron Highlands, located on the Titiwangsa Range still retains much of the charm of an English town. At about 1500 metres above sea-level, the temperature here can drop to 16 ˚C or lower at certain times. The weather remains at the lower 20′s most of the time. Being a primarily agricultural domain, you will find an abundance of greens, vegetables and fruits farms covering many parts of the highlands. This is an amazing location for wedding photo-shoots with lovely sceneries of tea plantations, beautiful flowers and plants you won’t see flourishing elsewhere in Malaysia.

A small distance up from Ringlet, you will see an old English country home styled hotel, the Lakehouse Cameron Highlands Hotel. This heritage of Malaysia's colonial past is situated on top of a hill away from other buildings, overlooking a lake (hence the name). The interior which is full of antiques and English Themed wooden furnishing - apart from the beautiful exterior, is an ideal spot for wedding pictures with a traditional English charm. To conduct your photo-shoot you have to be the hotel guest or a diner there. A formal approval letter has to be submitted. To find out more, contact the hotel at +605 495 6152.

I think the main reason to drive up this hill is to capture the spectacular tea plantation views. Here the cool weather allows you to stay outdoor for a longer duration.

BOH Tea Plantations
  1. Boh Tea Garden in Ringlet
  2. Sungei Palas Tea Estate (owned by Boh) in Brinchang - It is located further up north above Brinchang on a hilltop, amidst rows of tea bushes and close to Gunung Brinchang. The Boh Tea Centre houses a tea refreshment area, a souvenir and tea shop as well as an exhibition area featuring information about the tea manufacturing process, benefits of tea and the history of Boh Plantations. It links to a 20 foot overhanging platform which presents spectacular views of the tea garden. There are two parking lots, upper area which is usually full and a lower one.
Cameron Valley Bharat Tea Plantation - Located along the main road from Ringlet to Tanah Rata this is a good spot where the wedding crew can stop and have fun with scenic fields. Ample parking spaces are available along the road and there is also a small tea shop where you can enjoy a cup of the locally produced tea.

Another shooting location is the Smokehouse Hotel. With its lattice windows, wooden beams, beautifully tended garden with flowers and plants (especially the climbing plants on the wall), it is certainly a great backdrop for your memorable wedding images. Let me bring you through the beach wedding of Linda and Farouk held at Tanjung Rhu, Langkawi carefully planned by Hooi Joo. As you scroll down the page, you will see a collection of photos with a detailed description explaining how the wedding was organized.

Farouk, who is a film producer, had shot a commercial at the beach many years back and was totally smitten with the place. The white sandy beach is overlooking the Andaman Sea, nestled within the canopy of rhu trees. To complement the venue, the inspired theme revolved around rhu (casuarina) trees and its fruit. These trees are in abundant along the beach and the road leading to Tanjung Rhu. The oval, woody fruit would became the emblem of the wedding, which was elegantly designed on stationeries and décors. The couple had also opted for a white and green palette, to signify elegance and simplicity. The ceremony took place overlooking the islets.

For personal touch, Farouk and Linda had written personal messages to welcome each guest which were placed inside glass bottle place cards at the reception dinner. The dinner menu was impressive and a feast to the eye; Carpaccio of Venison Tenderloin, Lobster Bisque, Kalamansi Sorbet served in ice moulded bowls. The main courses were Roasted Lamb Rack and Pan Fried Salmon Fillet. To everyone's delight, Banana crème Brulee with orange mango salsa was served for dessert. As the dinner progressed, toasts were made around the tables. The master of ceremonies then invited the newlyweds for their first dance, luring the guests to the dance floor tucked at a corner amidst the trees.

A tropical floral chuppah was set up with a sheer white fabric draped above it, adorned with hand-strung white orchids and ivy leaves. Farouk and Linda read out their vows promising to cherish each other forever.

Later the vows were placed in a glass bottle filled with sand and rhu trees' fruits which will remind them of their commitment to each other.

jungle luxe location wedding feast
The couple led the guests into a lantern procession to the dining area. This gave the guests a little suspense as they were ushered away from the ceremonial area for dinner. Instead of hosting the dinner at the beach, the couple chose a jungle-luxe location for the wedding feast.
tree trunks wild leaves
The guests were greeted by white floating lanterns and lush trees. Later they were seated at a rectangular table set-up surrounding a verdant tree. This reclining tree trunks with moss, wild leaves and flowers became the main attraction of the dining experience. The brilliant table set-up not only linked all the guests in adjoining tables, it also allowed them to face each other.
round wire mesh garland
Tropical theme centrepieces were created to enhance the jungle-luxe experience. Round wire-mesh wrapped in Garland's Gold leaves and lemon grass were created to hold candles.
magical balls of fire
As the evening breeze blown, the floating lanterns gave a magical effect as if balls of fire illuminated the whole area.

A good measure of the credit goes to wedding planner Hooi Joo of Table 10 weddings. Everything was on time and the whole event ran smoothly. Good job, girl!
Jan 2010
Srihari comes from a Brahmin background & Li-Hsian a Chinese background. Both of them had 2 different cultural ceremonies...first their Chinese Tea ceremony on the 30th of January at KL Hilton and the next day, 31st January,2010 the Brahmin ceremony at Raja Rajeswari Temple, Ampang. And this is what we call cultural bliss...colorful yet so meaningful!
There was no specific theme for the wedding but both the families did dress traditionally for each ceremony. The decorations depicted Saree ribbons, Chinese lanterns, "Ganesha" chants (related to Indian culture) & the invitations had a motive of Chinese "double happiness" and the Indian "Ohm" character.
We were also touched with the ambiance Hooi Joo from Table 10 created on that day. Table 10 was the wedding planner of this wedding. Table 10, specializes in planning weddings especially large scale dinner receptions at premier hotels. Hooi Joo has been in this industry for the past 10 years... & Table 10 was launched in since 2004.

Dezza1982 @ Sep 2011
We searched many months for a location to have our dream wedding and Tanjung Rhu Resort (TRR) did not disappoint us once during our 7 night stay. We opted for the 'all-inclusive' wedding package and being based in the UK, the resort were more than helpful and accommodating to our requests.
It was able to convert our wedding plans and visions into reality and was even able to make last minute adjustments when we arrived. As part of the all-inclusive package, we were able to dine and drink (non-alcoholic beverages) for most hours of the day. The food and drinks at each restaurant were superb and the service always came with a smile. The staff were proactive and by the time we left they felt like family.
The resort itself is stunning being located on the best beach in Langkawi. Clear views of Thailand and a walk-able sandbar during low-tides provided some activity in between the chillout sessions by the pools. We decided to have our wedding on the beach and they were able to organise everything for us, exceeding our expectations.
There are also additional activities like watersports and tours. We chose the Mangrove Adventure tour and it was one of the best tours we've been on. Be sure to ask for Zoher as your guide, we could've stayed on it all day if we could but it only went for 3.5 hours. A beach BBQ is also available and to dine while watching the magical sunset was one of our most enjoyable dinners there. Plenty of food!
Our families were staying at another resort in Kuah Town and the TRR made them all jealous. Our big thanks to the staff at the TRR for making our stay and wedding so memorable. We will definitely be back, most likely to celebrate an anniversary!

How romantic it is to say "I do" at a secluded tropical paradise with with clear blue tropical waters lapping close by and wild scenic beauty. Get ready to be impressed by their superb service and pro-active staffs. One of the most expensive hotels in Malaysia, you get what you pay for. Tanjung Rhu has a private beach carved out from the rest. Actually from the public beach you will see a fence separating the private beach. The best part of the beach is that there is a walk-able sandbar during low tide and its fringed by casuarina trees making it look picture perfect.

Nearby where it meets the Kilim River, you will see dense mangroves with many small but unique animal life. Go for the Mangrove Adventure Tour which is really good.

5 Ways to Entertain your Guests on the Wedding Day

1. CARICATURIST
Get a Caricaturist to sketch a memorable gift for your friends and family to bring home. Instead of the usual photo session, they have a chance to receive a comic and artful image of themselves. Everyone will be very eager to have one.

2. MAGICIAN
Andrew Lee and David Lai - They are good
You can hire a magician/ mentalist to wow your guests with some amazing and fun tricks. I am sure they will be enjoying themselves. The magicians can perform on the stage or move from table to table for a more personal encounter. Some of the audience can take part in the fun as well (if the wedding is small). Be sure to get a recommended one, some "magicians" can be a little cheesy.

5. LIVE BAND/ EMCEE
  • Rhumba Event Management provides Live Band, Emcee, Photography, makeup services, etc. It partners renown emcee William Lee, talented professional photographer John Poh, Valerie Fan Wedding Gallery and Momento Artz Photography.
"Rhumba pretty much is the biggest reason why my guests had a good time. They really are awesome. I chose Rhumba after watching their performance in one of my cookies’ wedding. I thought Jacky was great, he can play so many instruments. Also, Kenny have a voice that is quite like Jacky Cheung. Kian loves Jacky Cheung song so I know he will like it. Jacky played a very nice oldies (Herb Alpert – This guy’s in love) on the saxophone while ushering us in on the first march-in. Kenny was great too in singing our second march-in song (So much in love). We didn’t get to hear all their performance but those that we heard are very good. Many said they are the best wedding band they’ve ever heard."   commented @ Nov 2011

"THE RAW NOTE is possibly the most versatile live band I've seen and heard. They can sing in any languages (english, cantonese and mandarin). I would call them if I have guests from varied background." BashfulBrides @ Nov 2012

"Raw Note was my wedding live band for my wedding last year. I got to know about them after recommendations from my colleagues. I think they were the most reliable source cause I could not really find wedding live band's information online. Anyway, I was impressed with Raw Note's performance that night. Both singers did a good job and the band members were talented as well." marynne @ Jul 2012

COMMENTS ABOUT WEDDING ENTERTAINMENT
Combined comments @ Sep 2012
I saw a street style magician at a wedding fair, he was totally awesome and left me completely boggled really impressed.  Its a great way to start conversations and he can walk around talking to your guests and doing tricks. I think a magician would need to be recommended as some I've seen are very cheesy. There was a wish tree for people to write messages, they had a polaroid camera (rather then a photo booth!) for people to write a message & place in an album, they had a photo board with years of pictures of them, family and friends inc pictures of the hen & stag do. Everyone was going around having a look, so was an inexpensive way of entertaining them. I find nowadays that me and my friends are so busy we only see each other at weddings and I'm sure there are lots of others like that too.  We don't need entertaining because we are having such a good time just catching up over a few drinks and a boogie.  keep it simple! honestly, no one will think you've not looked after them! In fact the best weddings I have ever been to are the ones with just a DJ. All you need is friends and family to have a great time!! My mum went to a wedding reception with a caricaturist and she said he was amazing, and nearly everybody had one done.
