Frozen's Arendelle - Hallstatt, Austria's Alpine Houses, Steep Hillsides and Lake

Hallstatt was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. Famous for its picturesque pristine water, majestic snow-capped mountains and historic alpine houses, it is one of the most Instagrammable towns in the world.

Due to the rumor that Frozen's Arendelle where Queen Elsa and Princess Anna live, was inspired by it, this little village with a population of just 780 has become overcrowded with tourists in recent years. In 2020 the town council has decided to control over-tourism by limiting the number of tourists and tour bus arrivals.

To capture these beautiful photos with such amazing scenery requires systematic planning and skill. Photographer: Benson Yin:

Nothing like the original Hallstatt village built in the 16th century

When swans pair-up, they are inseparable. That's how it should be for marriage as well.

There is a housing development for the wealthier Chinese population in China which is modeled after Hallstatt. The replica of the parish church and its surrounding houses, and architectures overlooking a lake nestled in the mountain range looks almost exactly like the original one.

This is the replica of Hallstat! located in province of Guangdong

Hallstatt is 2 hours 15 min by bus or 2.5 hours by train and a ferry ride from Salzburg.
