List of Wedding Venues in Malaysia

Top wedding venues in Malaysia are at private locations with a romantic ambiance. Some restaurants have banquet hall that shares entrance with walk-in guests, causing distractions hence not ideal. The lighting and setting play an important role in creating the perfect mood.

Convention Centres can accommodate more guests, suitable for big weddings. Bungalows and beach resorts usually have outdoor space catered to intimate garden or beach and small weddings. Hotels are excellent for grand weddings. Each venue has its positive and negative aspects. Choose the one with good reviews that fits your priorities.

I'm looking for a not so Chinese-themed restaurant, less about RM800 per table. Not sure which one to choose. Bangsar Seafood restaurant looks good, meets my expectation.

Hi anonymous, Bangsar seafood is closed for good. try Noble banquet, oriental banquet or oriental pavilion. there are pretty modern looking with the cheapest menu less around or less than 800.

I attended a wedding at Equatorial KL. I think the ballroom was nice, food serving was big (enough), taste wise ok. For the price, I think this hotel is a pretty good deal. Traffic was a bit of problem in KL on Saturday.

Had my banquet with Armada Hotel. Besides the newly renovated ballroom, other things were not that satisfactory. Ballroom and foyer looks nice, but the food is not very good. Prawns are very very small that it was an embarrassment to us. Supposed to give us 5 tier champagne glasses but only got 4 tiers. Audio & lighting was badly co-ordinated that my mom had to run in to inform them to dim the lights! Table numbers are wrongly assigned and table arrangement is not as per final floor plan. Some relatives ended up unhappy as they were inadvertently seated at the corner coz of the table arrangement mix up. Being the hosts, we were too busy to ensure the program flow that we didn't expect the hotel to flip out on such details.

Im looking halal places to hold my chinese dinner. Any recommendations with affordable prices? Am hoping to get about 1k per table…

    • Le Ann
      June 22, 2012 at 2:30 am

Thanks CpMoon for spotting that, updated.

aireez, I would definitely recommend Tropicana Golf and country resort (Spring Garden). the service was excellent. the PIC Diana made sure everything is well organized. We had a small tea ceremony at the restaurant and Diana helped served the tea. Here's the link for more info: http://wedresearch.blogspot.com/2012/02/tropicana-golf-and-country-resort.html

Other than that here's a list of all venues that serve Chinese food: http://wedresearch.blogspot.com/search/label/Halal

Here's the venues that offer packages from RM500-RM1K per table: http://wedresearch.blogspot.com/search/label/500-1K%20per%20table

Most hotels serve halal Chinese food but they are over RM1K per table. I think Vistana Hotel should meet your requirement, I'm not sure how much is the rate now.

      July 7, 2012 at 5:37 pm

      Hi Le Ann,

Thanks for your suggestions, but i think not many know this and i would like to clarify…

Pork-free does NOT mean halal at all. It just means that the restaurant doesnt serve pork, but the slaughter of the animals may not be halal as per Islam guidelines, and some people might mind that.

In my case, mu husband and I dont mind, but his parents very much so mind =[. So Tai Thong and Oriental group restaurants, despite being pork-free, are out of the picture .

So difficult. Vistana has good package, but 2013's after tax rate exceeds 1k, I'm afraid i might make a loss, which i can't quite afford.

      • Le Ann
        July 8, 2012 at 2:30 am

        Hi Aireez,
I did ask specifically if the chicken and stuff are slaughtered in a halal way, Tai Thong told me they are halal. their kitchen is completely halal. the only reason why they could not get a halal certification is because they serve alcoholic beverages. Unless there was a mis-communication…..

      • Le Ann
        July 8, 2012 at 2:35 am

Tai thong I meant, certain branches like the one at tropicana golf resort, bukit jalil golf resort and bukit kiara.

      • Aireez
        July 12, 2012 at 8:08 am

I got an email response from Tai Thong. I asked them if their meat were slaughtered in halal way and their reply, as quoted, is "We just checked and the meat is not slaughters in halal way."

      • Le Ann
        July 12, 2012 at 3:31 pm

oh ok. sorry for the misleading info. I'll change tropicana's tai thong to pork-free category instead of halal.

      July 10, 2012 at 11:45 am

      July 11, 2012 at 6:52 am

      Le Ann,

Do you know if Maju Palace is halal for real? They gave me a rather odd answer… not too sure what to think of it,

"Maju Palace is the only halal restaurant under our group. We are certified to be halal no matter the way how they slaughter and the preparations of food and we are also one of the top halal Chinese restaurant in Klang Valley area."

      • Le Ann
        July 12, 2012 at 2:42 am

Previously I dropped by at Maju Palace as well. They told me they source their meat from halal vendors. You can go check it out.

    • Aireez
      July 12, 2012 at 4:24 am

Thanks Le Ann, will definitely do so. I triple checked with Tai Thong; they said the meat are not slaughtered in halal way =[ Hope Maju Palace give a positive answer *cross fingers*

      Hi all,

I'm planning to have a garden-english-themed wedding. Plan to have luncheon instead of dinner. Besides Carcosa Seri Negara, any other hotel that provides good ambient for english-themed wedding and serves good-affordable food as well?
Preferably around Subang and Shah Alam area. But if I can't find any suitable ones, then I will opt for hotels around KL area.

Please share your thoughts. Have a nice day all!

        Hi haris,
I was looking at the penchala location and honestly it was a huge disappointment. It was nothing like before. I felt it was rundown and the wooden chairs and tables had mites. Visited last month. Do you happen to know if they're going to refurbish the area? It was all so romantic and nice before.

      Hi all,
My wedding is planned to be next year in seremban and we are currently scouting for the dinner reception venue. I've recently called the chinese restaurants in seremban, and here is the list:
      1. Regent (06-7639066) – the cheapest menu is 538 nett. there are two levels, upstairs can fit up to 50 tables. downstairs about 30+ tables. while I love the food served there, been to weddings a couple of times, I don't quite fancy the environment and the noise.
      2. Silver Dragon (012-6741910, wendy) – they are producing a new wedding menu for 2013, and the package starts from >RM500 one table. Have not attended any weddings there but the hall is the nicest in seremban. they have a grand ballroom. can fit max 75 tables, min at 15 tables.
      3. lucky palace (S2 opposite Jusco) 06-6011328 – from RM568nett. they have a long stretch of halls, when all opened up can fit up to 200 tables ! Environment is good, food is nice too.

there are so many details to take care during wedding, just wondering if any of you had good or bad experience dealing with these restaurants for your actual wedding day. I've checked other bridal forums but the info seem to be outdated. please help me….

        Hi ky,
I personally like the food at Hee Lai Ton Seremban (喜来登). I've been to quite a number of wedding dinners there.

Regent (Tung Yat) for me is a no-no because the location is bad for receiving guests. The road is narrow and parking is quite a hassle. It's an old shop lot (they may have done some renovation), without proper rooms for more private event. You have to share the hall with other weddings, and karaoke singing is prevalent, the wedding becomes super noisy. No doubt the food is really good.

Silver Dragon is the new restaurant with a ballroom. Ambiance wise, most suitable for weddings.

Was at my friend's weddding at Traders Penang. The ballroom is not amazing for a hotel standard. There's something about the lighting that makes the whole hall too yellowish. The stage was big but it looks too simple, without any nice design. Conclusion, the ballroom is not up to my expectation.

Hello, I have just started my wedding prep and I stumbled upon your site. I was very impressed with the content and would like to conduct more thorough research. Wish me luck! Thanks so much!

I've also just started looking into a wedding. So don't have much to offer.

I've contacted Amy at Park Royal and she has a very quick response time. Hilton and Double Tree KL which are both Hilton group, gave me absolutely useless responses to my initial queries, they didn't answer my questions and just cut and past generic responses without even reading my requests.

      Hi there,
Stumbled upon this site and find it very informative. I have just started planning for our wedding. Currently, looking for venues to hold the wedding reception. One of our favs is cyberview lodge-a partial garden concept. We would love to hear some suggestions from you regards to great wedding wedding venues, which will of course turn out great on pictures too!

      • Le Ann
        November 13, 2012 at 3:39 pm

Cyberview Lodge is definitely very beautiful location for garden wedding. I attended a wedding there before, the view was amazing! However the ceremony was held in the evening when it was still rather hot. Everyone was sweating uncontrollably. Another hotspot for garden concept wedding is Carcosa. Royale Chulan provides an indoor garden which I think is a brilliant idea. For more cozy, relaxed and intimate environment, check out Passion Road and Ciao Ristorante.

Hi there, am just started planning for our wedding for May 2013 but having some trouble looking for a venue that could meet below criteria:

      1. Minimal decoration yet it looks elegant
      2. Chinese cuisine preferred
      3. Budget: max RM90 – 100 per pax, inclusive of beverages and corkage fee
      4. Pax size: 120 – 150
      5. Location: KL or Selangor

I like Banker's Club but couldn't get them to respond to my email at all. And, I am now working overseas so doing it via email is the best option I have.

      Anyone has any recommendation?

      • Le Ann
        November 13, 2012 at 3:15 pm

Swiss garden hotel has a small ballroom – Grand Lotus which can fit up to 180pax. However price is above 100 per pax. I believe the wedding package of Bankers Club is also above RM100 per pax. Other hotel with more reasonable rates and good reviews is Vistana KL.

Tropicana Golf Resort is a good choice as well, it has nice ballrooms (ballroom I can fit up to 150 pax) and you can take the Spring Garden Chinese Restaurant packages which start from less than Rm100 per pax. Ming Room (Oriental Group) caters for small weddings, pretty good food and perfect for 15 tables.

        November 13, 2012 at 4:59 pm

Hi Lee Ann, thanks for the tips. Finally Banker's Club responded though am willing to increase the budget but the date is not available anymore. Was thinking of not going to have it in hotel, but guess can explore that too. What is your thought on Neo Tamarind, Passion Road, Overseas and Ciao? Ya, I know 3 of them aren't really Chinese cuisine.

Any idea on who is a reasonably priced MU for AD?

      • Le Ann
        November 14, 2012 at 11:53 am

Ciao serves Italian food, while Passion Road serves both Western and Asian food which may be something closer to what you are looking for. You can do a search for bungalow, it will show the reviews. Tamarind is suitable for small wedding party, however read below for the negative reviews.

        Tamarind's reviews:
[1] Jul 12: It's too dark, the path from carpark not high-heel-friendly, therefore not recommended. Love their food, but on a more cozy ocassion, like dinner for two. Not for a party. *BAD*— [2] Mar 11: Tamarind Springs can be an option for garden/poolside ROM but quite expensive. *BAD*— [3] Dec 10: Good food and good ambiance for wedding dinner or just casual get together. Will definitely impress your guests. Get the direction right, it's quite secluded. *GOOD*— [4] Jul 10: Refreshing change from the norm. Surrounded by jungle, cosy ambience and exotic decor. delectable Indochine/ Italian food. In demand as a small wedding venue. place for wedding shoots. *GOOD*—

For resonably priced MUA I would suggest:
        1.Yen Makeup
        2.Suki Ng
        3.Chris Fong

Hello, any updates for the following news? For Imbi Palace.

    • Le Ann
      November 23, 2012 at 1:08 am

1MDB said they did not authorize the demolishing of Imbi Palace, but the incident happened due to the dispute between the tenant and sub-tenants on vacating the premises. The Imbi Palace Group was then rebranded in Sep 2012. The website shows Imbi Palace is now located at Jalan Barat. I believe it is business as usual probably. Anyone has updates?

      Hi Le Ann,
I just attended a wedding dinner in Golden Dragonboat Restaurant @ Jln Kampung Pandan. It was a bad experience as the overall dinner was not good. (My cousin chose this restaurant as this was the only choice for him that time, other restaurants were fully booked)
Venue: The hall is big enough for 75 tables (there are more than 3 or 4 halls), think this is the only advantages. Lack of parking space. Unclear direction in the restaurant.
Food: Overall not good. The roasted duck is not bad.
Services: The manager is very cooperative, as she will try to get what we have requested. However, the most of the waiters are part time, keep breaking the glass, beer bottles, and plates…somemore, they are rushing to clear the dishes. The dinner was started ontime without any delay at 730pm, but they are still rushing till 3 dishes in the table at the same.
MC: My cousin was super unlucky to get the 'famous' fatty mc who don't know how to speak nice word. My cousin's parent felt so humiliated when the mc keep saying he will be rich tonight after receiving so many big angpao (in fact he is a rich guy already)…and he keep standing in front of the couple, blocking them until the camera man and photographer started to complain.

Congrats on your upcoming wedding! Wherever the location of your wedding, could I ask the permission to post some of the photos on my blog? Hehe…Anyway having a garden wedding at the venue listed above would cost more. You can try searching (venue search) for "Club". You will see the results of 1. Kelab Darul Ehsan (48++/p) 2. Subang National Golf Club (48nett/p). Try also searching for Wedding package less than RM100 per pax. There are more options. You tried Bora Ombak?

        Hi Kc
Tropicana Golf Club is usually booked well in advance, and there are a lot of internal club functions too. Gotta check with them. Better luck in getting the lunch slot.

Chinese Restaurants, you have Noble Banquet (Bukit Bintang) and Oriental Pavilion (Jaya 33) which receive good comments.
Bukit Jalil Golf Resort is not bad, not as nice as Tropicana Golf Club in term of ambiance.
Sime Darby Convention Centre is good too.

The other one is Ciao Ristorante KL
Hotels like Cyberview Lodge, Equatorial Hotel Bangi, Carcosa (expensive) also provide garden wedding.
If you don't mind the distance Tanarimba Janda Baik, Bukit Tinggi, with its cool temperature and serene green environment is a very nice location. it has poolside wedding.

Feedback for Holiday Inn Glenmarie Shah Alam: We had our wedding dinner reception in Holiday Inn Glenmarie. We had to deal with 2 wedding planner representatives from the hotel because one left the hotel half way and the 2nd one took over. However, due to internal miscommunication the handover was not done well. As a result, we had to arrange for a meeting to go through everything with the new planner Ang Wei Jing. Thereafter, all the further planning discussion was via email. It went well at the beginning as she confidently stated that all will be as per my request. However, on the actual day there were a few items that I’drequested earlier that did not go as discussed. In particular:-
      1. The decorations it was not as per planned & discussed.
      2. The guest signature book was changed last minute and we were not informed.
      3. No bowl/paper bag was provided for keeping of red packets even though we'd asked for it.
      4. Besides that, she also did not introduce my coordinator (my sister who is in charge of the flow for the day on behalf of the bride & groom) to the floor manager for the event day even though I had communicated to her earlier plus my coordinator purposely met her 2 days earlier from the event day. Hence, this lead to the floor manager was unaware who was the coordinator during the event. He was difficult to find during the event day and hence during second march in, after the emcee announce our march in, the entrance door was not open and we had to open it ourselves as we couldn't find the floor manager at that point.
      5. Other service for the event that were not good was rude waiter, bridal cake was not served to VIP table, wine was not topped up promptly.

However, on the positive note the parking was free and there are lots of space, the arrangement for bridal suite and complimentary room was prepared and ready by the time we checked in. The grand ballroom was very big, spacious and looked elegant with the lighting and decorated tables during the event day. No pillars hence there is good viewing of the slideshows and videos. The hotel has an LED screen right in the middle of the stage where it can be switched on to slide down and switched to slide up when not needed. It is big and clear and not required to have additional projector screen. There was plenty of space at the ballroom foyer during pre-dinner snacks and for guest to mingle around. Not much to say about the food served as it was as per the hotel standard. The advice here is, if extra deco is required perhaps good to outsource on your own as the value of the money will worth more than getting the hotel to do so. Make sure your coordinator are included in your discussion with the planner from the beginning so that if anything does not appear as discussed, you can consult immediately with the hotel.

we had our ROM and buffet in a cafe – Marmalade Publika. Its a close celebration of love. For couples who want an intimate wedding, cafe could be a good choice.

hi, i plan to have my wedding dinner this June. Looking for Chinese restaurant with good ambience & food. do you have any recommendation?

I personally think Grand Imperial (there are a few branches) has the best ambiance. Food wise, Tai Thong and Oriental Group of Restaurants are good. For both ambiance+food, check out the Tai Thong outlets. You can use the ballroom of Tropicana Golf Resort if you get the Chinese wedding package from Tai Thong restaurant.

Thanks Le Ann. But now i face a problem. had 2 venue to choose. first is Grand Imperial One Utama & another is Vistana Hotel. Which one is good in term of food & ambiance of hall?? thanks for your comment

        January 18, 2014 at 11:29 am

        The reviews I gathered:
Grand Imperial One Utama-food is good. Good service. Does not have to share the hall with walk-in guests because it's small. The restaurant looks small and not comfortable.

Vistana Hotel KL-negative point about vistana is the location and pillars at the ballroom. for a hotel their food is good. The actual day dishes are good, better than food tasting session. Decoration and services are good too. Overall, satisfied with the weddings. i just pay for the menu price the rest of it such as decoration, pa system all are free from the hotel! Everything was absolutely perfect. Lovely decoration. Banquet manager and staff were helpful. good food. highly recommended.

hi. im holding a dinner for my course. so its kinda university kind of event with 100pax of students and lecturers. the theme is bollywood night, so is there any place that can suit to my event? with the budget of about rm70 per person. thanks for your recommendation 🙂

      • Le Ann
        April 14, 2014 at 5:55 am

you may need to hire a separate decorator for a bollywood theme. Not sure about school functions, but for weddings the venues that suit the budget are:
        Kelab Golf Perkhidmatan Awam
        Federal Hotel
        Kelab Darul Ehsan
        UPM hall
        Subang National Golf Club

Thank you for your replied. Do you know any chinese restaurants close to USJ areas? We prefer private small room which can fit 6-7 tables. Budget below RM1000 per tables. We found a lot of restaurants offer complimentary items with minimum 10 tables ;( Any other suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

Why not try Kumar's Restaurant, they cater to all types of functions, wedding, engagement parties, private dinners and corporate events.

They have this beautiful 1st floor and the environment is amazing.

With smaller function rooms around your budget or slightly more:
      – Lakesight (http://www.wedresearch.net/2013/08/lovely-venue-lakesight.html)
      – Noble House KL, Oriental Banquet PJ, Ming Room… (Oriental Group) have smaller private rooms – There are packages for fewer tables but about RM100 per table more expensive
      – Sin Choi Wah Restaurant in Kepong
      – Summit Hotel Subang USJ
      – Dynasty Dragon in USJ
      – Armada Hotel PJ
      – Crystal Crown Hotel PJ
      – Cititel Midvalley
      – Vistana Hotel
      – Bukit Jalil Golf Resort, Tropicana Golf Resort

      – Other venues for intimate small weddings, price varies: Rama V, Tamarind, Passion Road, Top Hat (many small rooms), Dusun Garden Fairies Hulu Langat, Teeq Brasserie Lot 10, Bankers Club KL, Ciao Ristorante KL (Italian food), Carcosa (expensive).
      – Otherwise with bigger halls/ ballrooms you may have to share/ partition the hall and share entrance…
      – Besides having the banquet indoor you can choose the outdoor venue such as poolside, terrace, garden
      – Usually complimentary items/ banquet benefits come with 10 or 20 table or more. You can either settle that yourself using external vendor or discuss about adding them with extra cost.

        "Hi Leann,
As I was planning for garden wedding, I came across Teeq Brasserie so I went to check out the place. It seems that it has been closed down, interior is quite messy, not sure if renovation was going-on or it was just left with the teary parts.
Their website had closed down, so I am pretty sure that at least, the restaurant is no longer there. "

I would like to seek for your professional opinion and information about private venue for small wedding dinner with closed families, which is approximately 60 to 80 guests in Penang area.

Due to the small amount of guests, I find out that there are some difficulties for me to find a venue to cater less than 50 or 100 persons of guests.

I would like to seek for your professional guideline to recommend me the venue which cater small group of people in a dinner. The venue can be restaurant, private building, hotel (indoor/outdoor) and etc. I want to refer any suggestion to plan a wedding dinner with my families.

      Thank you.

      Hi Le Ann,
I signed up with Vistana last Sunday at the PJ/KL wedding fair. It had one of the best rates around – cheapest set menu is RM938 nett for 8 dishes (no prawn). If I remember correctly, RM1.1++k will give you 9 dishes (with prawn).

Also, signing up at the fair was really more beneficial if you have more min 20 tables. THe benefits: 2 extra rooms for parents to stay on that day (1 night, with breakfast included). Deposit was 1k only, normally is 5k (walk-in rate). And paying 1k deposit gave you a high tea at Majestic hotel. If you chose to pay more (RM1.5k), they give a 90 min oil massage at a spa instead.

Even if you don't sign up at the fair, I think the package is really worth it. They give you a 3 day 2 night stay at one of the other YTL hotels (you can choose between Tanjung Jara, Camerons, or Gaya Island), a night for the couple on the wedding day, room for tea ceremony, pre-wedding dinner cocktails by the poolside, and 80% invitation cards. That was the most we heard after going to a few booths at the fair. Also, you only need to pay up till 50% and the remaining 50% you pay on that day. There were some hotels that wanted you to pay till 80% or even in full before the wedding dinner night.

I also have to commend the lady who served us and who will be our wedding planner – Andrea. She was very nice, no hard sell, very polite. She even asked us to come by the hotel to visit and she gave us a mini tour, even taking us to see the bedrooms. And she even offered us 2 free drinks from the bar, on the house! Really good service.

The only negative part is the hall can only sit 30 tables max and you have to choose who gets put behind the pillars (There is one right in front blocking the stage). They have LCD screens to compensate though.

On the whole, I am very happy we chose Vistana as it fit our budget, and the wedding planner was someone whom we could see was very comfortable to deal with (I think that is very important as well!). I am looking forward to my wedding as at least this part has been taken care of after so much research being done.

Hope my comments help other brides-to-be! 🙂
