Mixed reviews about their wedding coordinator Shangkar. Operations Manager (Peter) & Floor Manager (Alex) are helpful and friendly.

An 8m high ceiling, extensive use of locally crafted nyatoh wood paneling, the elegant cantilever staircase, traditional English-style setting and the glass perimeter are some of the Club’s outstanding features. The allure of Bankers Club English elegance has captivated the elite of business, and society.

Positive reviews: Food is nice with good portion but don’t expect very expensive ingredients. Fast service.  Banker’s Club environment is better for a small wedding reception. The ambiance of the club is fantastic, classy and unique yet comfy (air-conditioned). Pretty in picture (Chandelier and piano). Impressive cantilever staircase right in the center of the lounge. Come with basic decor of fresh flowers.

Negative reviews: limited parking, guests can park at Lowyat plaza. Have to isolate guests if more than 15 tables.

A memorable cousin’s wedding dinner there, very classy and looks classical. Foods were nice and the environment was great.

Feb 2016
Had attended wedding dinner on new year eve. So far the environment was lovely. Very classic and well maintain design. The wedding dinner was good and the service was very consistence.

Mar 2016
My wedding dinner done here (FEB 2015) last year, and half my quests were sweating because air-con is out or something. Asked for refund or compensation, no one cares. Mr. Shangkar only said will update us everytime we called him, and 1 YEAR has passed.
Bankers club really have NO prestige in handling after-sales service…
Even our anniversary dinner (include and compulsory in the wedding package) they didn’t provide to us after a year.

Attended a wedding dinner at The Bankers Club (Amoda Building) – I was pretty impressed by their cantilever staircase which was nicely decorated right in the centre of the lounge. Classy and nice ambience. Food wasn’t too bad. However, this place is more ideal for small function. I am not sure about the max tables it can cater but anything less than 30 tables shouldn’t be a problem.

Sep 2011
The place can accommodate up to 30 tables, however, the ground floor only able to accommodate 15-16 tables (depending you wan a smaller or bigger stage), the remaining tables will be at the mezzanine floor, where there got like balcony you can look down the ground floor. I would suggest that if your table more than 25 tables, dun go for bankers club, as the remaining 5 tables will be in like private room in the mezzanine floor, so i feel the ppl sitting the tables inside will feel really isolated. You can take a look at the place. i love the place, thats y i book the place for my wedding venue.

Have chosen this venue for our wedding due to its uniqueness..however, found the person who deals with wedding bookings (Shangkar) rude and unaccommodating..he is also slow to answer to queries and has the attitude of "take it or leave it"..I really cannot understand how he is hired as a salesperson with this kind of attitude..

Totally agreed as per above commend, have called before spoke to " shangkar". He really not friendly at all and rude to me. I suggest their management should change their person in charge.

I have paid a visit to the venue in day time in meeting Mr Shangkar to discuss for the package. I have found the venue is outmoded especially its sofa & ribbons (for decoration purpose). Would these conceal by its lighting if the venue is to be held for wedding dinner?

Also, the main hall can only fit up to 15 tables as i'm planning to have around 20 tables where 5 tables would be isolated at upstairs.

Appreciate for your feedback on these.

Totally agreed all above comments. Shangkar not only slow in reply, even we were agreed the package price and would like to schedule a meet up for more detail, he totally no reply and has the attitude" please leave it".
I`m strongly suggest management PLEASE change him! He have very serious attitude problem.

hi all, I'll be having my wedding reception at bankers this year.
just want to leave something positive for the PIC Shangkar.
yes I agree he may sound a little rude, abit impatient over the phone. But when I met up with him, he was very obliging and actually rather cheery! totally opposite to the impression that he gave when we spoke on the phone.

just make an appointment with him… bankers club really is a beautiful place for a wedding reception

give poor shangkar a chance ya :p

The price increased yearly. Any wedding held before June 2014 is 1,1k++ and afterward will be increased another 10%. It will be 1,4k a table and there will be corkage charge.

Just had my wedding here in this club in April 2014. I also used this venue for my ROM, tea ceremony and wedding lunch. Since I have my family to come early to witness my ROM and tea ceremony hence I scheduled for wedding lunch instead of dinner.

Overall, it was okay as the venue is:-
    1) Not too big hence my jimui and hengdais will not be exhaustedly from running around
    2) Pretty in picture (Chandelier and piano)
    3) Come with basic decor of fresh flowers.
    4) Good for 150 persons and below. (maxed 160)
    5) Food not much complaint except that you pay for a hefty price for cheaper material that you can find in typical Chinese banquet restaurant.

    1) Theft can happened in broad daylight! I have a photo-booth using Instax camera. I have 2 cameras with 1 being on standby. That's the one got stolen along with a couple of films! Damn!

    2) If there is a wedding the night before, make sure, double and triple check with the Club Manager (Shangkar) and Operation Manager (Peter) when is the decoration going to be changed for you. If they try to ignore you, go berserk on them! If you don't do so, you get half-ass decorations like mine.

    3) BEWARE that the Club Manager can promise you a lot but only delivers 60% of it. He forgets my dad's vegetarian set, my fresh flowers is pink and not orange, my food menu printed says "dinner" while it's obviously "LUNCH", table numbering setup is wrong when I have email him thrice in one month before, 2 weeks before and 1 week before. He also becoming super hard to be contacted nearing my event.

    4) NEVER notify us on :-
    a. The dimming of the lunching venue with curtain even though it's lunch causing my photographer kind of disoriented searching for the right light for shooting.
    b. How bad the PA system can be! The speaker is pretty much useless and worst of all, it has the pitchy and broken sound. OMG! No wonder Club Manager asks me three time if I'm bringing my own PA system. He should have notify me this when I ask him "Your PA system can be used, right?"
    c. Food presentation – we specifically mentioned that we don't want this and they still do it anyway with a pitchy and broken CD Disney music =.=

I would give it 3.5 out of 5 as Peter (Operation Manager) tries his best to work my event and we could really see his effort in talking nicely to us and the guests and the venue does look really good. 🙂

Some things that I remembered from my wedding dinner held this year

    1. I found it very weird and unsafe that anyone could just take the lift up to the penthouse. But you can leave your things in the changing room upstairs and key will be given to u.

    2. If you're getting a florist to do the décor , Shangkar will give them all the roses from the main table and staircase decor since its already in the wedding package

    3. Met with Shangkar a week before the wedding to discuss finer details such as no food presentation music, baby chairs, colour of flowers, wedding cake decor and flavour , vege menu for some guests etc. Everything turned out as planned on the actual day

    4. Its crazy difficult to get in touch with Shangkar and he didn’t reply my emails. But during the meetup at least he remembered what I asked for. It’s just frustrating when it’s the last few weeks leading up to the dinner

All in all, really no complaints. Food was good, parents, relatives and friends were happy and the wedding pictures turned out awesome!

I had the unfortunate experience of having to deal with Shangkar too. Like mentioned on the other posts, he is very hard to get hold of and has no good work ethics. I was asked to take a video package from BC that covers live feed projection on the mezzanine floor and an edited wedding video.

One month later, no news from BC on the wedding video. I had to follow up with Shangkar several times before getting hold of the wedding video. To my horror, the wedding video was atrocious. It wasn't edited well. The vendor BC appointed just gave me the lot of raw footage taken that day and burned it into a CD. Worst of all, I could not even send these raw footage to another vendor to help me edit a proper wedding video because the footage was so badly taken; it was shaky, audio was bad, there is just no level of professionalism. To put it very simply, a bunch of college students could have done a better job. Utterly disappointed that the most important day of our lives were not captured well.

I gave Shangkar a piece of my mind, asking him to get the vendor to give me a proper edit of the raw footage (that's the least they can do). But Shangkar just ignored my request and avoided my calls and messages. Very unfortunate that he doesn't have any superior that I can escalate this issue to. He runs his own show, does whatever he likes, with no one to answer to. Wish there is someone I know in the management/committee that I can complain to get his ass fired!!!

To anyone who intends to hire BC as your venue, make sure you hire your own videographer.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience at Bankers Matt. We are having our reception there this Sep. Been asking around for live feed vendors. Just wondering how did you end up with Bankers? Would you know if Bankers provide the mixer if I engage my own videographer?

Hi Matt, oh dear and so sorry to hear about the video disaster. You are so right about the Shangkar having no superior and he can do whatever he wants.
Maybe you can go to Pacific Development Co Sdn Bhd office located at 21st floor where the Bankers Club office is located.

For those who are doing survey on your wedding dinner at Bankers Club, this is the best place to know about Bankers Club. The above comments were happened to mine as well. Shangkar is truly unprofessional but fortunately there are Operations Manager (Peter) & Floor Manager (Alex) were helpful and friendly enough to make my day pretty good. My personal opinion for those who have your wedding at Bankers Club, please remember to get everything in documented in any form, make sure you are introduced to the Operation Manager and Floor Manager before your wedding bcos they are the ultimate persons to serve you on your day. My bad experience, I wasn't introduce to them and we only communicate on the day itself which i found too late and my wedding a bit mess up as many things I wasn't inform prior to my dinner. So please please please protect yourself in order not to ruin your day by this kind of management.

Oh dear, so many negative comments on BC! I am looking for a venue for my wedding end of this year and this place so happen could accommodate 120 guest. I lreally ove the architecture (only see from the pics) but after reading the comments above, I may have to re-consider.

Yes, we should take note of this promise-everything-but-not-done-later attitude. Lucky I wasn't a bridezilla nor super detail in everything. I keep maintaining the mindset that this is my happy day and not gonna let the decor to ruin my days with my hubby.

Well finally I had the chance to deal with Shangkar personally and I have to agree to all the above that my wedding has been made more troublesome and harder by this guy. He is unresponsive, he forgets everything and totally unreliable. My husband is usually very laid back but he is very very angry and annoyed at Shangkar of Bankers Club. I highly advise not to do your wedding here.

Thinking of holding our wedding at the Bankers Club purely because of the classy aesthetic. Am even more amazed that poor service specialist Shangkar managed to hold on to his position despite negative comments on his performance dated back from 2013. Does anyone knows if he is still employed at Bankers Club?
