Her biography and success stories were indeed intriguing. At the age of 40 in 1989 she wedded Arthur Becker, then CEO of an information technology services company called NaviSite. In planning for the wedding she went on a search for a perfect dress at several department stores and bridal boutiques but only found a “sameness to everything.” She wanted something more elegant and subdued, but there wasn’t anything. Eventually Vera gave up and hired a dressmaker to create her own gown. The gown cost $10,000.

In 1990, she opened her own design salon in the Carlyle Hotel in New York that features her trademark bridal gowns with financial backing from her father. Marion and S M Nasarudin SM Nasimuddin, chairman of Naza Group of Companies were married in 2010 at the grand Mandarin Oriental Hotel.
