In the hustle and bustle of Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur is the luxurious Westin Hotel. Famous for its prime location, that area can have a bit of traffic issues. Finding a car park was not a problem as the hotel has its own parking bays. Elevated up the hotel building, we arrived at the foyer where the reception was. Beyond it was the ballroom separated by a round balcony overlooking the hotel’s ground floor. I was immediately mesmerized by the beautiful ballroom.. modern and cozy. To create that kind of coziness and romantic atmosphere, the lighting plays an important role.

We were seated together with hubby’s ex-colleagues, there was the catching up session and then we asked for some wines. We saw the bride and groom made their grand entrance gracefully on the
red carpet led by a saxophonist, with beautiful flower stands by the side. Subsequently the attendants served the first dishes to the dance pop “Gangnam” tune. The lights pointing to our table immediately illuminated, that means it’s time to eat! Brilliant.

Reception dinner started with the combination platter in which a few unique food dishes were served on one single plate. The people were crazy about the soup (Classic Bird’s Nest Soup with Australian Abalone and Conpoy). I personally love the cod fish. The Shimeji mushroom in soy sauce was so yummy savored together with the fish. The tiger prawns with extraordinary sauce was a spicy sambal-taste dish, which was very appetizing. Overall, I enjoyed the food and I liked the food presentation a lot.

Westin banqueting provided excellent service. Our table was well taken care of, except for the fact that the girls had to ask the attendants to refill the glasses with more wine. I guess they were more focused on serving the food and neglected the drinks. If Westin is your venue of choice, feel free to discuss it with the PIC to make sure everything is tip top.

Jessy of the Muse Entertainment was the emcee and lead vocalist of the night. She has a soothing jazzy voice, sang mostly jazz numbers. She spoke English and Mandarin confidently. If you are planning a romantic and classy wedding reception, she and her band are a good option.

The hotel also offers a good package and the person-in-charge is nice to deal with. Enjoyed the food and like the food presentation a lot. No parking problems. Mesmerized by the beautiful ballroom, modern and cozy. Provides excellent service.

We had our wedding in Westin in June’16 and it was a beautiful setting. There was no pillar in the ballroom obstructing views and it could accommodate a good 30 tables and a dance floor. The bridal suite we got was also very spacious and we were very happy with the room and assistance provided for our wedding.
The hostess serving the main table was very attentive to our needs and even volunteered to send up the food that we didn’t manage to eat to our hotel room so that we could have them for supper. However our guests had provided feedback after the dinner that they had difficulties getting services. Nevertheless hotel was accommodating to our decorating needs and was kind enough to let us bring in our own desserts for the cocktail session.

Westin seemed just right from the start. Nice banquet manager (a jolly-looking accomodating type called Chester, whom we privately call Chestnut), cosy ballroom (45 tables max, but 40 tables would be comfortable), and very flexible in altering the contract terms per our request, and throwing more freebies into the package. Westin also offers a variety of table linen designs, in sand and pearl colors.
